About the Alabama Flag
The Alabama State Flag features a crimson red saltire (St. Andrew’s Cross) on a white field, adopted as the official state flag on February 16, 1895, by Act 383 of the state legislature. Legal regulations require the bars of the saltire to be a minimum of six inches wide. The design echoes the Confederate battle flag heritage of the Deep South.
