New! Peace Graffitti Vertical Flag
The peace sign is an important symbol because it represents the universal desire for peace and non-violence. It is a powerful reminder that we are all interconnected and that we have a responsibility to work together to create a more peaceful world.
The peace sign was originally created in 1958 by Gerald Holtom, a British graphic designer, as a symbol for the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND). The design is based on the semaphore signals for the letters N and D, which stand for “nuclear disarmament.” The circle surrounding the symbol represents unity and the global reach of the peace movement.
The peace sign quickly became a popular symbol of the anti-war movement during the Vietnam War. It was used by protesters to express their opposition to the war and their support for peace. The peace sign has since been used in many other social and political movements, including the civil rights movement, the environmental movement, and the LGBTQ+ rights movement.
