The Kansas Flag was adopted on March 23rd, 1927. The in 1963, they decided to add the name Kansas . The sunflower is the state flower so it was put on the flag. The wreath stands for the Louisiana Purchase. The 34 stars show that Kansas was the 34th state to join the Union. The man ploughing the fields stands for agriculture. The steamboat stands for commerce. Kansas’s history is shown by the wagons and horses traveling west.
