The Mexico Flag was adopted on August 17th, 1968. The eagle eating a snake standing on a cactus in the middle of a lake is said to be the sign that the Aztecs saw when they were looking for a place for their city. Later the Spanish took over the Aztec city and turned it into the capital city, Mexico City. The white stripe stands for purity, the green shows hope, and the red represents the blood of the national heroes.
