The District of Columbia Flag represents the Washington DC – possibly our new 51st state if the Democrats have their way!
The flag is based on George Washington’s coat of arms. It was designed by Charles A.R. Dunn. The District of Columbia Flag became official on October 15th, 1938.
This is an American made flag of tough, durable and long-lasting nylon fabric. This flag is fully sewn, not printed. You won’t find nylon flags with higher tensile and tear strength. It has excellent strength retention under UV exposure, and high resistance to UV fading. The colors are deeper and brighter that last over time, due to the aniline dyeing process. They also have better wash-fastness and light-fastness than nylons of similar fabric construction. There is a one inch double edge fold, with four rows of stitching on the fly edge. There is 1 1/2 inch reinforced stitching vertically at the fly corners, and 3 1/2 inch reinforced hem stitching (horizontal) at top and bottom of the fly. The grommets are solid brass.
