The Malaysia Flag was adopted on September 16th, 1963. The crescent and star represent Islam. The fourteen points on the star and the fourteen stripes represent the fourteen members of the Federation of Malaysia.( Singapore left in 1965 but the flag was left unchanged) The blue field symbolizes the unity of the people.
