Why the Peru Flag?
Adopted on February 25, 1825, the Peru Flag features bold vertical red and white stripes — red for the blood of independence, white for peace and progress. The state version adds the iconic coat of arms featuring a vicuña, a cinchona tree, and a cornucopia. Fun fact: strip away the emblems and the Peru Flag and the Canada Flag (adopted February 15, 1965) are nearly identical — same red-white-red triband, 140 years apart.
