These flags are made of tough nylon strong enough to stand up to outdoor use. The Stripes are cut and sewn and the stars are extra material sewn onto the blue canton field, known as appliqué.
By law, a star is added to the US Flag on the 4th of July following the admission of a State(s) to the Union. The United States never recognized the Confederate States of America and therefore kept the 13 states that seceded on their flag.
